The strength
test
- The stone-shaped clay is extracted from Safi hill and crushed by hand with a wooden hammer (meijem).
- The crushed clay is then soaked for 48 hours in a basin of water to soften it, before spreading it on the ground to dry for an additional 48 hours.
- The clay is then vigorously worked with feet and kneaded by hand to obtain homogeneous clods.

The hand test
- Through gestures of great finesse, the raw clay is harmoniously shaped by hand on a turntable (louleb).
- Right and left hands work together and complement each other, guiding the turntable craftsman (loualbi) in his perception of volumes and their transformation.
- With a stroke of wire, the potter separates his work to put it on a board (tbec).
- After 48 hours of drying, the potter resumes his work to throw it, refine its details and engulf it.

The fire test
- The fragile are hardened by fire in an oven for 48 hours.
- This is a crucial step, much feared by the craftsman because of the risk of breakage or cracks.
- The cooling then lasts 24 hours and produces a semi-finished object called a “biscuit”.

The eye test
- The craftsman, brushes in hand sits on a small bench with his eyes fixed on his work to create and decorate with a delicate and rigorous gesture tolerating neither hesitation nor trial and error
- The mix of colors and decorations are inspired by nature, the cultural symbols of Morocco, the personal history of the craftsman…
- Once decorated, the objects are enameled and placed a second time in the oven for 48 hours to obtain the finished product.
